Farm-to-School Grant Program - Local Meat Survey of School Food Service

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture in collaboration with VT FEED (Food Education Everyday) and legislative council is working on a feasibility study for Vermont Locally Produced Meat-in- Schools Program. The legislation relating to this can be found in ACT 207 Sec. 3 of 2008 on www.leg.state.vt.us. Introducing local meat into our school food programs would not only stimulate our state’s economy but would also provide our schools with top quality local ground beef products at a competitive price.

The following survey will give us a better understanding of how our food service directors deal with ground beef and what the demand would be for a local product. This information will prove to be very helpful for our next step in talking with local producers, processors and distributors. We thank you in advance for providing this information with us and look forwarding to sharing our results with all interested parties.

If you would like more information on the findings of this study please include your contact information on the survey before it is sent back to the agency and we will add you to our contact list.
